What can I expect?

Start your journey in Tonbridge with a leisurely Cycle to Kents most authentic Medieval Castle with breath taking views across the Tonbridge High Street. Built soon after the invasion of 1066,  Tonbridge Castle stands tall over the River Medway.

On Wednesday 23 1900 Earl Stanhope, Lord-Luitenant of Kent arrived to Tonbridge to declare the castle now belonged to the people of Tonbridge.

This wonderful electric bike route offers an almost entirely traffic-free ride. Taking you past the playing fields on the edge of Tonbridge towards the beautiful Haysden Lake to Penshurst Place.

One of the oldest family-owned estates in England. Penshurst Place is surrounded by 11 acres of walled formal gardens that complement the original medieval house. One of the most complete surviving examples of 14th Century domestic architecture in England. This old Tudor landmark is a historical gem tucked away from the main road in the Village of Penshurst. The stately home was once used as a hunting lodge for King Henry VIII and now feature stunning staterooms and grounds open to the public and frequently showcased in popular TV and film productions. Such as: Anne of the Thousand Days, the 1971 BBC series Elizabeth, the 1992 television series Covington Cross, The Other Boleyn Girl, The Princess Bride, the BBC TV show Merlin, The Hollow Crown, and the BBC’s 2015 series Wolf Hall.

This e-bike tour will also take you onto the neighbouring tudor village of Chiddingstone. Almost entirely owned by the National Trust who purchased it in 1939 to ensure its preservation, some property such as the village shop and post office date back as far as 1453. Also home of the Chiding Stone, a curios lump of Sandstone formed about 135 million years ago this village is not short of history and picturesque landscapes.

This tour is ideal for those wanting to explore a quintessential part of England oozing history and idyllic country landscape.

This route allows time to stop and enjoy lunch at one of our recommended eateries, a Grade II listed property steeped in Medieval history. Enjoy fresh Kentish produce with lots to offer on menu.

With the option to view via an app or a printable map, our routes have been designed to ensure you can’t go wrong. With helpful photos and pin-pointed areas of interest you will be sure to confidently explore on this self-guided ebike tour with no pre-existing knowledge of the area.

Our team are also on hand to provide additional telephone support should you need us!

Some of our most popular tours take in famous landmarks such as the once home of Winston Churchill, 13th Century Hever Castle home of Ann Boleyn and award-winning vineyards and breweries. Some of our bikes are fitted with panniers, so if you succumb to temptation in the local shop, you can pedal your wares back.
