Start your journey in Tonbridge with a leisurely Cycle to Kents most authentic Medieval Castle with breath taking views across the Tonbridge High Street. Built soon after the invasion of 1066, Tonbridge Castle stands tall over the River Medway.
On Wednesday 23 1900 Earl Stanhope, Lord-Luitenant of Kent arrived to Tonbridge to declare the castle now belonged to the people of Tonbridge.

One of the oldest family-owned estates in England. Penshurst Place is surrounded by 11 acres of walled formal gardens that complement the original medieval house. One of the most complete surviving examples of 14th Century domestic architecture in England. This old Tudor landmark is a historical gem tucked away from the main road in the Village of Penshurst. The stately home was once used as a hunting lodge for King Henry VIII and now feature stunning staterooms and grounds open to the public and frequently showcased in popular TV and film productions. Such as: Anne of the Thousand Days, the 1971 BBC series Elizabeth, the 1992 television series Covington Cross, The Other Boleyn Girl, The Princess Bride, the BBC TV show Merlin, The Hollow Crown, and the BBC’s 2015 series Wolf Hall.
This e-bike tour will also take you onto the neighbouring tudor village of Chiddingstone. Almost entirely owned by the National Trust who purchased it in 1939 to ensure its preservation, some property such as the village shop and post office date back as far as 1453. Also home of the Chiding Stone, a curios lump of Sandstone formed about 135 million years ago this village is not short of history and picturesque landscapes.
